Paul Grupp + Brenda Rose
Photographers for Portland and the Pacific Northwest
Our deep experience (10+ years) shooting actors and business headshots in the competitive NY market continues to inform our work after relocation to Portland in 2015. Whether shot in-studio with artful studio lighting or less formal natural lighting; whether outdoors or on location at your place of business, we deliver thoughtful, artistic imagery that represents professionals at their very best.
We know you have many choices and options for photographers. We think what differentiates our wedding work is our unique combination of a light-hearted sense of whimsy, conceptual storytelling skills, strong journalistic instincts, and the ability to create fashionable art. We feel a deep sense of responsibility to the couples who place their trust in us on one of the most memorable days of their lives. Our goal is to treat every wedding and its participants with extreme respect — doing our job to the best of our abilities while never forgetting that it’s YOUR day, not ours.
Since we began shooting weddings almost 11 years ago, we have shot between 30 and 40 weddings per year. As you can imagine, we’ve learned a lot from that experience — and we would love to put it to work for you!

In addition, unless otherwise clearly identified, all were taken at real weddings with real couples and their friends and family; not leisurely staged under ideal circumstances just to produce some pretty pictures.
Paul has shot dozens of assignments for newspapers, and spent three years as a staff photographer for the NY State Senate in Albany NY, before opening the Upstate Photographers studio in Troy NY. His work has appeared on the websites and in the catalogs of many companies and organizations, and in publications ranging from 944 Fashion magazine to Landscape Architecture, to The Saratogian, The Troy Record, and The San Diego Troubadour newspapers. His photographs are featured in the book Erotique Digitale published by the Ilex press. He shot most of the images for two years of the Under Armour Lacrosse equipment catalog. Many musicians use Paul’s photography on their websites, posters, promo pix and CD packaging.
Since 2015, Paul is based in Portland, OR with studio space in NW close-in Portland. Business and actor’s headshots, fashion, glamour and portraiture are all in Paul’s wheelhouse, and he shoots between 40 and 50 weddings per year, ranging from tiny elopements to elaborate weddings with hundreds of guests.
